Job Summary

The Electrical Engineer owns practical electrical work for the plant in the Bowling Green, KY area. The assignment is to execute continuous improvement projects and to provide electrical engineering services on projects led by others. Success shows up on the floor: safer equipment, lower cost through better productivity and less waste, stronger product quality, and machines that stay running.

This is a hands on manufacturing role. The person in the seat troubleshoots recurring equipment problems, supports production, and builds solutions that improve manufacturing equipment effectiveness. Growth comes from the work itself, alongside experienced in house electrical engineers, on robots, automated equipment, and complex processing lines.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Execute continuous improvement projects and provide electrical engineering services on projects led by others, with four outcomes in view: safer equipment, lower cost through better productivity and less waste, stronger product quality, and more reliable machines.
  2. Troubleshoot recurring equipment problems and put long term fixes in place, rather than living with the same stoppage week after week.
  3. Support production on the plant floor with electrical engineering skill. Be available when a line, a robot, or a complex process needs a clear diagnosis and a practical fix.
  4. Use sound judgment and creativity to generate improvement ideas and solutions that raise manufacturing equipment effectiveness (MEEF).
  5. Learn by doing. Work directly with robots, automated equipment, and complex processing lines, and build range that the plant can use on the next project.
  6. Work alongside experienced in house electrical engineers. Absorb their methods, share what you see, and grow the technical depth required for more complex future work.
  7. Program and configure industrial control systems, including PLC logic and HMI screens, so operators and maintenance have a system they can run and trust.
  8. Apply working knowledge of electrical drives and motors, photo eyes, proximity switches, and solenoid valves when diagnosing and improving machine controls.
  9. Use AutoCAD to document, revise, and communicate electrical designs so the plant has drawings that match the equipment.
  10. Use SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, Ignition, and FactoryTalk to collect historical data and turn that data into better decisions on reliability and process performance.
  11. Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and project leads so electrical work supports safety, schedule, and the product the customer actually receives.

Qualifications

Required

  1. Bachelor of Science in an electrical engineering discipline. A BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology is required.
  2. 3 to 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a process based manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong teamwork, people skills, and communication skills. This role sits with production, maintenance, and other engineers every day.
  4. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with a record of finding the cause and not only the symptom.
  5. Experience with and a working understanding of industrial machine controls, including PLC, HMI screens, electrical drives and motors, photo eyes, proximity switches, and solenoid valves.
  6. Proficiency with AutoCAD.
  7. Programming and configuration of control systems is required.
  8. Strong Siemens PLC and HMI experience, along with Allen Bradley and Rockwell experience.

Preferred

  1. Proven experience executing projects from definition through install and handoff.
  2. Working knowledge of SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, Ignition, and FactoryTalk for historical data collection.
  3. Exposure to robots, automated equipment, and complex converting or coating lines.

Work Setting

The role is based at the manufacturing plant in the Bowling Green, KY area. Work is a mix of the floor and the desk. The engineer will stand, walk, and work around operating equipment, robots, and process lines, and will also complete design, programming, and documentation at a workstation. Occasional lifting of light tools and components is part of normal plant support. Travel is limited and tied to project or supplier needs.

Compensation note. Target base salary is 85,000 to 100,000. Our client will consider a higher base for a candidate whose experience clearly exceeds the 3 to 5 year range, particularly where Siemens, Allen Bradley, and project execution are already proven in a converting or process plant.
