TECHNICAL MANAGER - Ohio
Technical Manager based in Columbus, Ohio for specialty paper and films. Our client is looking for someone with experience in working with pressure sensitive and silicone coated materials for use into the fiber composites industries and markets.
REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of silicone coating technology and possess at least an Associate’s Degree in a Science-related discipline. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Chemistry are preferred. The ideal candidate must also possess knowledge of silicone chemistries and pressure sensitive substrates; have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and be able to present technical information to a variety of individuals effectively. In addition, they must be a self-starter and have the ability to present solutions to problems. It will be essential to manage multiple projects with creativity and passion for achieving business success.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Management of technical function, including transition and development activities
- Representing company to external customers as a technical team manager and internally as a cross-functional team manager
- Develop, manage and optimize internal and external trials for product development, qualification and cost reduction objectives
- Provide training and coaching to technical and operations associates
- Managing and directing trials and developments on key assets within a facility
- Coordinating base paper, poly resins, silicones used in release liner products
- Representing internally as a cross-functional team manager in activities with Business Development, Operations, Market Support, Supply Chain and Quality Assurance
- Preparation and publication of reports on the development functions
- Reporting to Plant Manager
Profile/skill set:
- Technical Degree, commensurate experience or BS in Specific Science, BS Engineering or Chemistry a plus
- 5-10 years experience in Silicone Coating technology
- Base paper/substrate knowledge, troubleshooting and development
- Experience with Polypropylene and/or Polyethylene Extrusion a plus
- Experience in release liner paper for Fiber Composite and Industrial markets
- Exhibit strong leadership skills with a track record of structured problem solving and project management
- Ability to manage multiple projects with creativity and passion for achieving business success are essential

We are currently looking for an R&D/Technical Service person to support a variety of film products. Ideal candidate will have 1-5 years experience with polymers ideally with an education in polymers. This person will be responsible for supporting multiple segments including, stretch film, shrink film, agricultural film and industrial can liners. This position will require 50-75% travel and will be able to be based anywhere in the US working from a home office.

UV / EB R & D Technologist opportunity - Western MA
Leading manufacturer and converter of specialty materials, and are in need of an experienced R & D Technologist based in Western MA. This position reports to the VP of R & D and the products are sold to specialty markets including Office Products, Publishing, Luxury Packaging,Technical/Industrial, Graphic Design, and Paper Crafting.
Below is a brief job description:
The individual will be responsible for product development and technical support of UV and EB coatings and products. The individual will work closely with Commercial, Manufacturing and other functions to develop products with high sales potential.
Principal Duties:
1. Develop knowledge of products and technology including design,
development, manufacturing and product applications;
2. Analyze and interpret customer requirements to generate product
requirements;
3. Develop new products with experience in EB and UV coatings inks or related products as required
4. Plan and supervise production trial at manufacturing sites in the US and other regions;
5. Produce technical reports and present results through presentation.
Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of cellulose based materials, coating and web processes;
2. Familiarity with coating formulation principles;
3. Minimum BS in Chemistry, Paper Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent, with minimum 10 years industrial experience.
